چکیده

The response of inbred maize (Zea mays L.) lines to nitrogen (N) fertilizer and cowpea (Vigna unguiculata cv. Iron Clay) cover cropping was evaluated in three consecutive croppings from 2014 2016 a Guamaní (Torrifluventic Haplustepts) soil. crop rotation sequence (spring 2014), (summer (winter 2014-2015), 2015), 2015-2016) 2016). N levels were 0, 90, 135, 180 225 kg N/ha for 2014-2015 seasons, 50, 100, 150, 200 the 2015-2016 season. Soils sampled depth 90 cm before after each successive cropping. Cover did not affect yields. effect on seed yield observed two out years with optimum yields 7,034 4,708 kg/ha 135 N/ha, respectively. Residual soil tended increase due crop. Low-Input Cropping Systems and Nitrogen Fertilizer Effects on Crop Production: Soil Nitrogen Dynamics and Efficiency of Nitrogen Use in Maize Crop

Soil N is a major factor limiting crop production in maize-based agriculture in the tropics. In this study, soil N dynamics and efficiency of N use by maize was investigated in five cropping systems (CSs) over two annual cropping phases. The CSs comprised cereal-legume (CS1, CS2, CS3), cereal-cereal (CS4) and cereal-bare fallow (CS5) rotations with three rates of N fertiliser application to mai...

Tropical Legume Crop Rotation and Nitrogen Fertilizer Effects on Agronomic and Nitrogen Efficiency of Rice

Bush bean, long bean, mung bean, and winged bean plants were grown with N fertilizer at rates of 0, 2, 4, and 6 g N m(-2) preceding rice planting. Concurrently, rice was grown with N fertilizer at rates of 0, 4, 8, and 12 g N m(-2). No chemical fertilizer was used in the 2nd year of crop to estimate the nitrogen agronomic efficiency (NAE), nitrogen recovery efficiency (NRE), N uptake, and rice ...

Evaluation of Tillage, Nitrogen Fertilizer and Crop Residue Management on some Agronomic Traits of Soybean

This study setout to investigate the effect of wheat residue, tillage, and nitrogen fertilizer management on some agronomic traits of soybean as a split split plot based on randomized complete block design with three replications. The main plots included wheat residue management: collecting and leaving residue and sub plot included tillage (without tillage and conventional tillage), and the sub...

Response of Maize to Cover Crops, Fertilizer Nitrogen Rates, and Economic Return

17 Maize is the world’s most widely grown cereal on the basis of Mg produced (FAO, 2014). Nitrogen fertilizer applied to cropland is a considerable portion of the cost and energy input associated with nonlegume crop production (Liebman et al., 2012). When N is lost from cropland, it represents both a fi nancial loss to producers and has a potentially negative impact on the environment (Vetsch a...
